Remi Babalola was appointed Chairman Board of Directors of FBNHoldings Plc on 29 April 2021. His Executive Management experience cuts across Banking, Auditing and Consulting. Before joining the Board of FBNHoldings Plc, Remi was once an Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria Limited from where he was appointed Minister of State for Finance and Supervising Minister for the Federal Capital Territory. He started his career with PriceWaterhouse and later moved to Arthur Andersen before joining Zenith Bank where he served as Financial Controller and Chief Strategist and later rose to the position of General Manager before he was headhunted by First Bank of Nigeria.
Remi is currently a member of the Advisory Board of APIS Partners, a UK-based private equity firm with focus on the financial and business services sector in growth markets. He was the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc. He is a Fellow of the Institutes of Accountancy and Taxation, as well as a Fellow of Bankers’ Institute and Institute of Directors. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the West African Insurance Institute.
Remi is an Alumnus of the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos and Lagos Business School. He has attended top-tier courses and programmes at INSEAD, Stanford, Wharton, London Business School and Harvard. He is a member of the Commonwealth Business Council, World Economic Forum and a recipient of numerous awards/prizes which include ICAN Merit Award and KPMG Merit Award. He is highly involved in philanthropy, mentoring and empowering small and medium enterprise through Remi Babalola Initiatives Incorporated. Remi partners with the Nigerian Red Cross and a few other non-governmental organizations in philanthropy. He hails from Ibadan, Oyo State and is blessed with a lovely wife and wonderful children.
